Ridge-Con Harassment Policy

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated at Ridge-Con. This policy applies to all attendees, guests, volunteers, security, and staff.

What Is Harassment?

Harassment is any unwanted behavior that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment. This includes physical or verbal actions that make someone feel unsafe or unwelcome—whether or not that was the intent. If someone tells you to stop, you stop. Harassment is defined by the experience of the person targeted.

Examples of harassment include (but are not limited to):

  • Offensive or sexual comments about a person’s appearance, identity, or beliefs
  • Vulgar jokes or gestures
  • Non-consensual photography or recording
  • Following someone or blocking their path
  • Touching someone without consent
  • Repeated unwanted contact (texts, calls, messages)
  • Disruptive behavior like excessive noise or heckling
  • Bathroom policing
  • Flashing, mooning, or sexually explicit behavior in public spaces

“Cosplay is not consent.” Just because someone is in costume doesn’t mean you can touch or photograph them without permission.

Dress Code & Explicit Content

Costumes must cover areas typically covered by a swimsuit. No flashing or lewd behavior is permitted. Any explicit content for sale must be stored out of public view, and IDs must be checked before showing or selling such items. Ahegao shirts are not allowed.

Reporting Harassment

If you witness or experience harassment, report it immediately. You can:

  • Contact any Ridge-Con staff member or security
  • Visit the event HQ or Info Booth
  • Use our dedicated reporting line: 760-375-8000
  • Email: Friendsofdef@gmail.com

You may report anonymously or on behalf of someone else. We take all reports seriously, regardless of who is involved. There is zero tolerance for retaliation.

Consequences

Anyone found violating this policy may face:

  • A verbal warning (one time only)
  • Ejection from Ridge-Con without a refund
  • A permanent ban from future Ridge-Con events
  • Law enforcement involvement when necessary

This policy is posted online and throughout the venue. All staff and volunteers receive harassment response training to ensure reports are handled appropriately.

We’re here to help keep Ridge-Con a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
